I’m Lindsay Graves, founder of Graves Assisting. I’ve been married to my incredible husband, Preston, for five years (as of October 2024), but we’ve been partners-in-crime for over a decade now. Together, we’re proud cat parents to our two goblins, Kiba and Kahlua (yes, they rule my world). I’m an introvert through and through, a master of navigating social anxiety, and the kind of homebody who’s always dreamed of building a career on my own terms. Something creative, flexible, and purpose-driven.
Before launching my virtual assisting business, I spent five years in the salon industry. I’m a licensed cosmetologist and permanent cosmetic tattooer who’s done it all, from assisting and front-desk work to becoming a full-blown service provider specializing in permanent makeup. Before that, I honed my people skills in retail, holding sales and management roles at Gap Inc., Rue21, and CVS. Even back in high school, I knew I was obsessed with all things beauty and dove into my school’s cosmetology program. After snagging my cosmetology license, I earned my Associate’s Degree at New River Community College and later graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor of Science in Media Studies, specializing in Journalism.
I’ve always been a bit of a rebel dreamer, obsessed with creating something that’s all mine. As a kid, I crafted an entire pet-sitting business plan with my mom (because future cat ladies are nothing if not prepared). When I wasn’t playing business mogul, I was glued to the computer, building websites, blogs, and PowerPoint presentations (I was clearly a super popular kid). Fast forward to now, and that entrepreneurial urge has only gotten stronger.
That’s why I started Graves Assisting. I help business owners design websites, manage social media, create content, and tackle administrative tasks so they can get back to doing what they love.
